Extractions are necessary for many different reasons. The most common reasons are: abscess, infection, fracture, decay, periodontal disease and Impaction.
When a tooth is extracted it may be done in one of several different ways. We place local anesthetic (numb the area) or you may be a little more concerned about the surgery and decide to have conscious sedation; most often done with Vallium. The extractions may take anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour. During the procedure you will feel a little pushing and pulling and may even hear some drilling.
We will discuss the need for, or reason behind the recommendation for an extraction.
